Our Approach to the Employees
We believe in creating an employee culture that encourages communication and accountability. We provide opportunities for individual growth and development and promote a culture where differences are valued and respected. We seek to attract and retain the best talent, which is reflected in a manager turnover rate of just 5 percent – well below the standard industry rates. In addition, the average employee tenure is in excess of 7 years with many employees having careers with Refuel that span decades. Our workforce of 2,300 reflects our commitment to diversity and inclusion at all levels. Women hold 90 percent of the positions at the store manager and district manager levels, and 75 percent of individuals at those levels identify as Black, Hispanic or Latino.
We drive human interaction at the store level to continue to strengthen our employee relationships and allow us to foster trust, gauge our execution and share best practices across our operations. Orientation and training programs are offered for new hires, and management routinely hosts in-person discussions with store managers and conducts site visits to garner feedback from the field. Training is extensive and includes commitment to such policies as:
- Anti-bribery/anti-corruption policy
- “No retaliation” and whistleblower protection policy
- Workplace violence prevention policy
- Harassment prevention policy
We believe in offering highly competitive wages. We also invest in our employees through healthcare and dental benefit programs, life insurance and disability coverage, as well as employee assistance programs that offer counseling, legal and financial consultation and work/life assistance.
